Boise City, Oklahoma is the county seat of Cimarron County in the far, western end of the state's panhandle. Boise City is near the border of four other states, Texas, New Mexico, Kansas and Colorado. Boise City is also close to the state's highest point, Black Mesa. Indian Petroglyghs, the signature of the famous Spanish explorer Coronado, and dinosaur tracks are some of the sights the outdoor explorer can see near Boise City.
Farming and ranching are major industries in the area. Boise City's school system is the largest in area in the state. It covers 887 square miles. Yet it is able to offer a full range of course offerings through fiber optics linkages. The network is also used to give residents and employees access to college courses from Oklahoma Panhandle State University in Goodwell.
Boise City has received a Community Development Block Grant to inventory infrastructure features for Capital Improvement Planning (CIP).
