Did you know that in 2003 the Ada City Airport invested $750,000.00 in new airport improvements aimed at enhancing safety? In 2004 a new approach lighting system was added to the main runway along with a visual guidance lighting system.
Ada, Oklahoma is located in Pontotoc County in the south-central part of the state. Ada is known as the "City of Pure Spring Water" as Byrd's Mill Spring is one of the most reliable water resources in the country. Home of East Central University, Ada offers a variety of events, ranging from jazz performances to theatre and sporting events.
The Chickasaw Nation is headquartered in Ada and is a vibrant part of the economy, employing roughly 1,500 employees in Ada alone. Ada is also home to the campus of the Pontotoc Technology Center, part of the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education.
On June 9th, 2003, Ada hosted more than 1,000 guests participating in the Oklahoma FreeWheel bicycling tour. Ada was one of 7 host communities. Oklahoma FreeWheel voted Ada the Best Host City of 2003.
Ada's 2003 Relay For Life raised the most money of any city in the state of Oklahoma for a state relay event. A total of $159,504 was raised in a 12 hour relay.
Ada is a Certified City.
Ada has received a Community Development Block Grant to inventory infrastructure features for Capital Improvement Planning (CIP).
