Erick, Oklahoma is located in Beckham County in the central-western part of the state. Erick is on Interstate Highway 40, about equal distance between Oklahoma City and Amarillo, Texas. Farms and ranches surround Erick, which sits over the vast Anadarko oil and gas reserve. West Oak Industries in Erick manufactures computer components.
Erick is the birthplace of country singer-songwriter, Roger Miller, whose number one hit, "King of the Road" might have been inspired by his boyhood on U.S. Route 66, which runs through Erick. Erick is currently creating a museum to honor Miller, the only country singer to win a Tony Award, which was awarded for his score of the Broadway hit, "Big River." Erick has received a Community Development Block Grant to inventory infrastructure features for Capital Improvement Planning (CIP).
