Purcell, Oklahoma is the county seat of McClain County on the border between McClain County and Cleveland counties in the central part of the state. Purcell is on I-35 at the southern outskirts of Oklahoma City.

Nestled in the bluffs overlooking the South Canadian River, Purcell has a unique and rich history. The historic Love Hotel is still in operation and is listed on the National Historic Register. Purcell is a key center for the state's equestrian industry. Several breeders of thoroughbred and quarter horses operate in the area.

Purcell has received a Community Development Block Grant to inventory infrastructure features for Capital Improvement Planning (CIP).
